What's new in Release 15.3

Spring 2025 Enhancements (May 4, v15.3)

  1. Color themes are now available: Blue (original default), white, and brown. We especially like the white theme, which makes for a more modern and cleaner look. The theme is chosen by system admins in Tools | Preferences, near the top of the page. This setting is for all users.
  2. AI description and OCR now work on non-jpg image types such as raw, tif, PhotoShop and Illustration files, and many others.
  3. The AI prompt for image descriptions can now be set for selected images in the main gallery view. Select the down arrow next to the Descibe Selected Images button on the main menu and enter a one-time prompt.
  4. Download resolution dimensions for non-jpg files can now be chosen in Preview.
  5. Share window settings choices are now saved and automatically chosen on subsequent opens of that window.
  6. When any tab is chosen in Preview the image view shifts to the right rather than the chosen tab hidding the left side of the image.
  7. Better compression on thumbs stored in our database, meaning newly uploaded images will show the thumbs a little faster in search results.
  8. The unmute button for videos is now always visible. For example, it's no longer hidden by the thumbs bar or Info tab.
  9. For large photo files from newer cameras and hi-res mobile phones, colors no longer get updated after a couple seconds in Preview.
  10. Alt Text: An initial implementation for use with device accessibility settings.
  11. Faster viewing when share URLs are open: we now pre-load the next and previous images while the current image is being viewed.
  12. The recently introduced AI metadata fields are now included when exporting data to CSV files.
  13. A fix for side-by-side viewing in the Versions tab.
  14. Clarification tweaks to the text in the sort menu.
