Autumn 2023 Enhancements (Dec 1, v12.8)
Our autumn release includes a number of large updates: primarily a greatly improved mobile layout and custom-trained AI models.
Custom-trained AI object detection
Prefer to use a custom-trained object recognition model instead of DBGallery's default generic AI auto-tagging? We've made this easy by adding the AWS Amazon Resource Name (ARN) of the trained model to DBGallery's preferences. That trained model may run from your AWS account or ours. We support trained models from other AI providers such as Google and Microsoft as well (contact us to plug those in).

Introducing our mobile phone-specific user experience
DBGallery has always run on mobile devices, even phones, but on mobile phones the user interface has been a little awkward. This release introduces a mobile phone-specific user experience. Now whether you want to view your collection while on the go, or there are users in the field wanting to upload images taken on their phone, the experience will now feel smooth and natural. To try to the mobile version, and feel the difference, go to your usual DBGallery URL on your phone. E.g. https://cdn.dbgallery.cloud.
Improved buttons over thumbs in the main gallery view.
We've replace the big gawdy Preview and Map View button atop thumbs in the main gallery view with a more elegant look. See the lower-right corner of the screenshot below. Also replaced the infrequently used Map View button with Download.
Other significant updates.
- Data Import improvements: Now able to import data fields with a CR/LF (newline) characters. Also now supports very large description fields (~64k).
- Advanced Reports: Huge performance and scalability improvements where 1000's of images can now be included in a report.
- Login with Google now avaible for DBGallery.cloud users.
- To give it its rightful prominence, the preview button on the main gallery menu is now green.
Fixes and smaller updates
- Reverse GeoCoding had an issue which caused some percentage of images to not be reverse geocoded (no address info added). This was resolved.
- Fixed an issue where new versions couldn't be added to PDF files.
- Just a note for those who used https://cloud.dbgallery.com: this now forwards to https://cdn.dbgallery.cloud.
- On mobile devices, multiple files downloaded are no longer downloaded as a html file (now a .zip as was intended)
- In the Info panel of Preview, show the custom fields description if there is one.
- Fixed the number of images shown when going to a folder from the dashboard immediately after loading.
- Security improvement: Restrict the password length to 64 characters.
- Colon's at the end of a folder name caused issues and are no longer allowed.
